The University of Colorado men聮s Basketball Team has been invited to participate in 聯Domingo en Casa,聰 a program started by a CU-Boulder professor and his wife to make minority students feel welcome in Boulder.
The student players will share Sunday dinner with Professor Al Ramirez and his wife, Vera, at their Boulder home. Other faculty and community members will join them, along with Coach Ricardo Patton and his wife, Jennifer.
The media also are invited to attend the gathering, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, at 4065 Apache Road.
聯The idea is for students to interact and not feel so isolated,聰 said Ramirez, associate vice chancellor for diversity and director of multicultural research and development in the School of Education聮s BUENO Center for Multicultural Education.
The Ramirez family has welcomed students into their home on 12 to 18 Sundays a year since 1989. Vera Ramirez prepares the huge dinners, which sometimes draw more than 100 people.
