More than 2,000 American Indians and First Nation Peoples from tribes in the United States and Canada will rendezvous at the University of Colorado at Boulder on April 17 and 18 for the third annual "Red Nations Cultural Unity Celebration Contest Pow-Wow."

Pow-wow events will be held in the Coors/Events Conference Center.

A pow-wow is a cultural celebration featuring native speakers, performers, writers and artists. This year's event is sponsored by the Oyate American Indian Student Organization at CU-Boulder. Oyate encourages people of native and non-native ancestry to attend the pow-wow to learn more about many cultures.

Dancers will compete for prize money in 18 categories. Host Drums from Oklahoma, Montana and Canada will provide music for the pow-wow. Native arts and crafts, and native foods, also will be featured.

The pow-wow will run Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. CU-Boulder students, children under age 7 and adults over age 60 are admitted free of charge. Admission is $3 for a day pass and $5 for a weekend pass. Proceeds from the event will go to support the Oyate student organization.
