Robert Cranny has been named interim director of the Wardenburg Health Center, due to the upcoming departure of David Cooke.

Cranny currently is director of the physical therapy department at the center. He will assume the position of interim director at the end of December.

Cooke is leaving Wardenburg to become the senior vice president and chief financial officer at Health System Minnesota in Minneapolis. He will remain in a consulting capacity at Wardenburg through the end of February to assist in completing the 2000-2001 budget process and to aid in the transition.

"I have enjoyed working with the Wardenburg staff and being a member of the Boulder campus community," Cooke said. "I am confident that Bob has the leadership abilities to continue implementing strategies to improve service delivery for students at the health center."

Wardenburg is sponsored by the University of Colorado Student Union. Student government leaders, including the Joint Health Board, oversee the use of student fees used to finance the center and participate in management decision-making.

"While it is a huge loss to the campus to lose David, we have complete confidence in Bob's ability to improve the delivery of health care to students," said Tara Friedman, UCSU tri-executive.

"The student-centered focus is the type of leadership we need and we're excited to work with him."

The health center offers comprehensive on-campus, outpatient medical care to students, faculty and staff. In addition to primary care and psychiatric services, the health center has specialty clinics and educational programs to enhance the campus community's health and well-being.
