The effects of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on Colorado's tourism industry will be addressed Oct. 24 at the Colorado tourism conference sponsored by the University of Colorado at Boulder's Leeds School of Business.

The conference is organized by the Center for Sustainable Tourism at the Leeds School of Business and the Colorado Tourism Office. Conference topics also will address how to keep tourists returning to Colorado, U.S. travel trends and the future of skiing in Colorado.

The conference, titled "Sustaining Colorado Tourism," will meet Oct. 24-26 at the Holiday Inn DIA, 15500 E. 40th Ave., in Denver.

Conference sessions on Oct. 25 include Colorado tourism promotion, customer relations, transportation, training and education, cultural tourism, outdoor recreation and shopping and tourism. The Oct. 26 session will address the future of skiing in Colorado, sustainable tourism, marketing on the Internet and getting your message to the right media.

The annual conference for travel and tourism professionals is designed for owners and managers of hotels, motels and bed and breakfast inns, destination marketing organizations, advertising and public relations firms, recreation industry organizations, the hospitality industry, museum and attraction managers, event organizers, convention sales, arts organizations and sports marketing organizations.

The Center for Sustainable Tourism provides a forum for the assessment of economic, social, cultural and environmental implications of the tourism industry as well as for designing, facilitating and planning tourism growth.
