Hello everyone. As the first wave of midterms hits, I hope you鈥檙e all finding time to do fun things during the week and get out of the study den for a bit. The theme this week is free stuff! I am Sarah Ellsworth: IPHY major, Boulder native, and event connoisseur, writing to you from the comfort of beautiful CU-Boulder on all of your weekly opportunities for community involvement, educational whatnot and supreme fun. Exhibit: Life on Earth Observed from Space.听This all day event in the CU Museum (Henderson Building) imports images right from NASA鈥檚 own Earth Observatory. Pictures of life on Earth will be interactive, mounted on touchscreen devices. It can be interesting to gain a new perspective on your life (literally) and I encourage you all to go and explore thoughtfully. .

Live Free Weekend kickoff lunch.听Accept the challenge this weekend: 96 straight hours of sobriety. Here鈥檚 a little incentive for you. A tasty lunch will be given from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the UMC Fountain area for anyone who makes the pledge. This will provide an excellent opportunity for you to meet with other Live Free-ers and discuss health and lifestyle. .
Internship, Career Fair, and Job Search Prep.听In this day and age, it can be a daunting task to procure a job right out of college, especially if you don鈥檛 have a STEM degree- we all know this. That鈥檚 why Career Services is hosting a workshop from 3 to 4 p.m. to help connect you with some of the resources you鈥檒l need to land that first real employment opportunity. You shouldn鈥檛 have to settle for a career you don鈥檛 want- take advantage of this opportunity to find out how to find and get the job you鈥檝e always wanted. .
Peace Corps Extravaganza.听Be sure to swing by the Glenn Miller Ballroom between 6 and 8 p.m. to learn about the Peace Corps and talk to some volunteers who have recently returned to the States. They have tons of stories to tell about their travels and the cultures and countries in which they lived. If you鈥檝e ever wanted to know what it鈥檚 actually like to be in the Peace Corps, now is your chance. Free food and cultural dance will be provided. .
New Venture Challenge.听Come kick off the 8th year of the听听and find out about the excitement surrounding this cross-campus entrepreneurial happening. Lisa Reeves, successful executive and venture capitalist, will talk about when it's the right time to jump into your business idea.
Friday, Sept. 25
CU鈥檚 Got Talent.听This is not your high school talent show. Between 8 and 10 p.m. in Old Main, some incredibly talented individuals will showcase their music, dance and comedy skills and compete for prizes. The event is free, and expected to be seriously impressive so you won鈥檛 want to miss this artistic display of talent. .
Climb as your favorite super hero.听Dig out those old superman tights and cape, grab your climbing shoes, and run (or fly, up to you) down to the Rec Center Climbing Gym at 8 p.m. to do what superheroes do. Bouldering is free for anyone in superhero attire. If you don鈥檛 have equipment, don鈥檛 fear! You can rent it there! Make sure to fuel up on some popcorn while you鈥檙e there too. .

Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema.听Sans Souci is an international film festival dedicated to exploring the cross section of dance and film. Check out some of the beautiful 38 short films being presented in the Atlas Black Box Theater at 7 p.m.- admission if free, just bring yourself and maybe a date! .
Yoga on the Plaza.听Saturday mornings from 9 to 10 spell free yoga for the Boulder community. A local yoga instructor will be teaching a class in the sunshine on 29th听Street walking mall next to Elite Sports for all levels of yoga practitioners, so whether you have an expert crane pose or you still can鈥檛 quite stand perfectly straight, you are welcome free of charge. .

Free student day at the Challenge Course.听You鈥檒l want to be sure to register for a time slot at the Rec Center to try out some of the fun to be had at the high ropes course. If you鈥檝e ever thought joining the circus sounds fun but doesn鈥檛 really seem like a viable career choice, then here鈥檚 your chance to give your skills a whirl without the lifetime commitment (for free!). Time slots are every hour, on the hour, from 2 to 6 p.m., and you can either register online or in person. .
