Vice President Joe Biden will visit CU-Boulder on Friday, April 8, to deliver a speech on the 鈥渋mportance of preventing sexual assault on college campuses across the country,鈥 according to his office.

Biden will visit CU-Boulder, University of Pittsburgh and University of Nevada, Las Vegas as part of the national 鈥淚t's On Us Week of Action.鈥 Students around the country will host events on their campuses to engage college students and all members of campus communities in preventing sexual assault and supporting survivors of sexual assault, according to the vice president鈥檚 office.

The Office of the Vice President chose to visit CU-Boulder due to denouncing sexual violence and encouraging bystanders to be more effective in prevention efforts. Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said the campus looks forward to hosting Vice President Biden and continuing the national dialogue on this issue.

鈥淲e share the same goals as the vice president when it comes to the 鈥業t鈥檚 On Us鈥 campaign and preventing sexual assault on college campuses,鈥 DiStefano said. 鈥淭he campaign is part of our comprehensive education and prevention initiatives听to combat sexual violence听and it complements our overall efforts during the past two years to become a national model in this area. The vice president鈥檚 visit will help bring more awareness to this very important issue.鈥

Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend this important event at the CU Recreation Center. Doors will open at 12 p.m.听

Tickets are required and can be picked up with your Buff OneCard at two locations: the University Memorial Center near the CU Book Store and the Recreation Center main entrance starting at 9 a.m., Wednesday, April 6. One ticket per student, faculty or staff member. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please arrive early on Friday to ensure you can get into the event.
