Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Christina Gonzales has named听Sandy Jones听as the dean of students. Jones began with the Division of Student Affairs on Aug. 20.

Dean of Students Sandy JonesJones comes to CU听Boulder from听the听University of California, Irvine (UCI), where she most recently served as the director of community and local government relations.听Previously, she held听several student affairs leadership roles at UCI that included advisement of undergraduate and graduate student governments, student media and student organizations.听

"With Sandy鈥檚 wide-ranging experience in higher education, including the听oversight of student activities, student听government and听her听leadership in crisis communication and government relations, I look forward to her joining the division and bringing a new perspective on how we can best support students,鈥 said Gonzales

Jones听looks鈥痜orward to working听with the student affairs leadership team and collaborating with campus partners to develop innovative new programs that both enhance the student experience and support CU's mission to educate the next generation of citizens and leaders.

鈥淚 am听excited and听honored听to be a part of the CU听Boulder community,鈥 said听Jones. 鈥淚听am eager to听meet听and begin collaborating with听students, staff, faculty and听administrators听to help create a campus environment that is supportive, engaging and inclusive to all students.鈥

Jones received a听bachelor鈥檚 degree in political science from the University of California,听Los Angeles; a master鈥檚 degree in education听in postsecondary administration and student affairs from鈥痶he University of Southern California; and a听doctorate in higher education administration and policy from the University of California, Riverside, where she听was recognized听as听a Chancellor鈥檚 Distinguished Fellow.鈥
