Presentation of the National Medal of Science to Distinguished Professor Emeritus Gilbert F. White of the University of Colorado at Boulder will be carried live by webcast and satellite feed beginning at 5:30 p.m. MST on Friday, Dec. 1. White and the other laureates will meet with President Clinton Friday morning for individual and group pictures by the official presidential photographer. The photos will be posted Friday afternoon at http://www.ostp.gov .

Rep. Udall, Forest Management Experts To Discuss Wildfire Management At CU

Although the smoke has cleared from the forest fires that ravaged the West last summer, including the foothills of ColoradoÂ’s Jefferson and Larimer counties, debate over the effectiveness of current wildfire management practices continues. Rep. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) and a host of forest management experts will discuss questions surrounding those practices at noon this Thursday, Nov. 30, at a special "Hot Topics" luncheon program in Denver sponsored by the CU-Boulder Natural Resources Law Center.

Memorial Service Set Dec. 5 For Richard Seebass, Former Dean Of CU-Boulder Engineering College

A memorial service has been scheduled for A. Richard Seebass, aerospace engineering professor and former dean of CU-BoulderÂ’s College of Engineering and Applied Science. The service will be Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 9 a.m., in the University Memorial CenterÂ’s Glenn Miller Ballroom. A reception will be held immediately following the service. Seebass, who was dean of the engineering college from 1981 to 1994, died Nov. 14 at Boulder Community Hospital after a short illness.

ITLL Fall Design Expo To Showcase Student-Built Engineering Projects

Galaxies At The Edge Of The Universe To Be Explored At Fiske Planetarium

The Milky Way and some of the millions of other galaxies that make up the universe will be explored during a live astronomy show at the University of Colorado at BoulderÂ’s Fiske Planetarium on Friday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. CU-Boulder Assistant Professor Erica Ellingson will take planetarium visitors on a multimedia trip beginning in the Milky Way and continuing through other galaxies to the outer reaches of the observable universe during her show.

Editors: Photographers are welcome to photograph the computer delivery at the Family Learning Center at 9: 30 a.m. Wedneday, Nov. 22. CU-Boulder staff and students will be on hand Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 9:30 a.m. to donate more than a dozen computers to the Family Learning Center at 3164 34th St. in Boulder. FLC children and adult learners use the on-site computer lab for homework and continuing adult education. Used computers are being donated as part of an ongoing program between the university and the Family Learning Center.
