Grand Junction will host an exhibit of early Southwestern weaving as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, “Beyond the Loom: Keys to Understanding Early Southwestern Textiles,” will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 at the Museum of Western Colorado, the CU This Summer local sponsor. The large color photographs in the exhibit are accompanied by text and graphics showing the early history and methods of weaving by native people of the Southwest.

Ceremonies honoring seven winners of the University of Colorado at Boulder Alumni AssociationÂ’s 67th annual awards will be held May 15 in Old Main Chapel on campus. The George Norlin Award to distinguished alumni for lifetime achievement and devotion to the betterment of society will be presented to Les Fowler of Boulder and Alfred Harrell of Denver. Fowler, a 1948 business graduate, was honored for his contribution to higher education while serving more than two decades in the Colorado Legislature and for volunteering his skills as a CU golf coach.

Campus Closure The University of Colorado at Boulder will close at noon today, Thursday, April 24, except for essential services and the engineering college lab dedication, which will proceed as scheduled, according to Interim Chancellor Richard Byyny. Because essential services will be maintained, employees should check with their supervisors or department heads for instructions. Also, the dedication of the Intergrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory, scheduled for this afternoon, will proceed as planned, university officials said.

CU-Boulder undergraduates will present research findings in the fields of psychology, biology and kinesiology on April 30 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom of the University Memorial Center. About 20 students will offer poster displays explaining their research results and will be available to answer questions. Topics include the effects of anxiety on memory and the effects of underwater running on running performance. CU-Boulder students and the general public are invited to attend.
