Dear faculty and staff colleagues,
We are pleased to share with you a number of actions our campus and the CU system are taking to address compensation for our people. We recognize that inflation continues to impact all of you, and we want you to know that we are committed to supporting you.
In the coming weeks and months, we will implement the following:
- A base-building 3% merit pool for eligible faculty and university staff employed as of Sept. 1, 2022, effective Jan. 1, 2023.Ìý

- A base-building 3% across-the-board pay increase for graduate students with qualifying appointments who are earning the standard campus rate, effective Jan. 1, 2023.

- A base-building 3% across-the-board increase for eligible temporary faculty, effective Jan. 1, 2023.

- A non-base-building, one-time retention payment of $1,300 (prorated by percent of appointment and included in end-of-October paychecks) for eligible faculty, classified staff and university staff employed as of Sept. 1, 2022. CU Denver and UCCS will be making similar payments as part of a system initiative to accelerate the CU Strategic Plan.
These efforts follow a 3% across-the-board pay increase for classified staff that took effect on July 1 of this year in accordance with state of Colorado requirements for classified staff.
To be eligible for any compensation increase, all employees must be in compliance with the university’s COVID-19 vaccine reporting requirement. The deadline for compliance for the one-time retention payment is Oct. 12, 2022. The deadline for compliance for the base-building increases is Dec. 31, 2022.
Additional details regarding these compensation initiatives and eligibility is available online:
We are grateful to the CU Board of Regents, President Todd Saliman and Chancellor Philip DiStefano for supporting these efforts.
We recognize that not all of these compensation initiatives reach all employee groups. We will continue to explore solutions to enhance compensation for everyone who works at ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ. We are grateful for all you do and want to ensure the university remains a place where each of you can grow and thrive.
Sincerely,
Russell Moore, provost
