The Great Wave of Urban Development
This piece is titled The Great Wave of Urban Development. Hokusai's famous woodblock print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa directly inspires the overall layout of this collage. I chose this artwork as inspiration because urban sprawl is truly a massive wave impacting communities nationwide while carrying numerous negative effects along with it. One of these effects that are displayed in the collage includes increased numbers of traffic, causing more tailpipe emissions, one of the biggest contributors to global warming. Another element that is displayed is that urban development is fundamentally built on money, with the government and its city developers having the main hand in deciding what changes occur and where. These urban planners often make poor choices, taking away people's homes and disrupting the communities they鈥檝e built.
About the Artist
Growing up I had a profound love for comic books and any kind of pop art style. This has greatly inspired the kind of digital art I like to create today.
