Over the last year, 精品SM在线影片听scientists and engineers听have developed听solutions that address various challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,听including听, environmental sensors,听supply chain innovations and more. These technologies require entrepreneurial support and acceleration to rapidly be brought to market and address the urgent needs related to the pandemic.听

Venture Partners at 精品SM在线影片鈥攖he university's commercialization arm鈥攈as launched the Pandemic Hyper Accelerator for Science and Technology (PHAST) to听support the translation of these CU-developed, COVID-19听innovations into new businesses.听

鈥淭here is no shortage of good ideas on campus. What often differentiates ideas and impact, though, is the translation and practical application of those ideas,鈥 said Bryn Rees, 精品SM在线影片 assistant vice chancellor for research and innovation and managing director of Venture Partners. "That鈥檚 the goal of PHAST. We're bringing together leading technologists, entrepreneurs听and startup resources along the Colorado Front Range to take听COVID-19 solutions out of the lab and into the field."

PHAST is taking 听through May 21. Faculty, students and staff with COVID-19-related innovations are invited to apply.

The six-month accelerator program starts virtually in June.听Participants receive entrepreneurial training, funding听and mentorship from seasoned Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, altogether worth over听$75,000. PHAST also culminates in a Demo Day,听whichprovides a chance for angel investors, venture capitalists听and the startup community to see pitches and discuss deal opportunities.

Crucial to PHAST's programming听is the partnership听formed with听local angel investing group Rockies Venture Club (RVC), as the听program requires participants to complete听RVC's 1-week听.

"The HyperAccelerator鈥檚 purpose is to focus on commercialization strategy and preparation for venture capital investment, which is what these companies need to launch and move out of the labs and become successful businesses," said Peter Adams, Executive听Director of RVC.听"The Rockies Venture Club鈥檚 partnership with the University of Colorado is an important step in the evolution of the HyperAccelerator program听to facilitate the rapid commercialization of the impressive pandemic related innovations coming out of CU."

精品SM在线影片's听PHAST program was selected for funding among more than听200 proposals, receiving听a $500,000 federal grant and $125,000 local match. This funding听is a part of $29 million that will be awarded to 44 organizations across the country as part of the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration鈥檚 (EDA) Scaling Pandemic Resilience Through Innovation and Technology (SPRINT) Challenge.

Last year, the SPRINT Challenge was launched to harness America鈥檚 entrepreneurial potential to address the economic, health听and safety risks caused by the coronavirus pandemic through entrepreneurship and innovation. Awardees include nonprofits, higher education institutions, and entrepreneurship-focused organizations that demonstrated alignment with their region's economic development priorities.听
