This course is an introduction to digital photography, including digital capture, post-processing, and project development. You will learn the basics of shooting with a DSLR camera, including exposure, composition, and simple lighting techniques. You will be guided through a foundational editing workflow using Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, and Bridge. The course will conclude in a final series of images exploring a community outreach project or personal theme of your choice. Each week will include two distinct topics and corresponding assignments, which will require you to provide constructive feedback via peer reviews in the Canvas Discussion Board.

In this course, you will

  • Recognize and employ a variety of simple lighting techniques, using both the great outdoors and simple studio equipment;
  • Develop a basic editing workflow with Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, and Bridge;
