What Else Does the Program Offer?
The Military Science program sponsors several social and professional activities as well as community service events. The social highlight of the school year is a formal Military Ball in the spring. CU-Boulder Army ROTC also sponsors Cadet visits to Army installations. Cadets gain valuable and practical leadership experience by organizing and executing these extracurricular activities
Financial Benefits
There are a number of financial benefits that you can apply for and receive depending on your eligibility. Contact the Military Science department to find out the eligibility requirements for each of these benefits and which ones may apply to you:
Full tuition and mandatory fees plus a $1200/year book allowance
$900/month (full-time)
- Freshmen: $300/month
- Sophomore: $350/month
- Junior: $450/month
- Senior: $500/month
Other Opportunities
Are you a member of the National Guard or the Army Reserve and desire the opportunity to earn a commission in the Active or Reserve Forces? If so, the SMP Program is for you. This two-year or three-year program is for actively drilling Army Reserve soldiers or Army National Guardsman who desire to serve as an officer after graduation. You can enter into an SMP Non-Scholarship Contract at the beginning of your sophomore or junior year. Some of the benefits include:
- Continue to receive your GI Bill and Educational Benefits
- Continue to receive Tuition Assistance or Tuition Reimbursement
- Serve in your unit as an SMP Cadet at the Grade of E-5
- Receive a stipend of $350-500 per month from ROTC as a contracted SMP Cadet
- Receive a $350 per month kicker (if eligible) - Army National Guard only
- Compete for Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) two-year scholarships (if you would like to serve your entire military commitment in the Army Reserve or Army National Guard)

Or are you a senior who is considering grad school?
If you fall into either of these categories and have not taken all four semesters of the ROTC 鈥淏asic Course鈥, Basic Camp could be just what you are looking for!
Basic Camp is a 4-week summer course at Fort Knox, KY. Attendance at Basic Camp will get you 鈥渃aught-up鈥 on what you missed by not taking all (or any) of the ROTC 鈥淏asic Course鈥 classes and make you eligible to begin the ROTC Advanced Course as a junior or grad school student. If you have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, you are also eligible to compete for a 2-Year Scholarship that will take affect when you begin school in the fall.

As an Army ROTC Cadet you are eligible to compete for slots to attend an Army Specialty School (subject to specialty school availability).
Specialty schools that the Army ROTC Cadets typically have an opportunity to attend are:
- Airborne School
- Air Assault School
- Northern Warfare School
