Danielle Szafir, an Assistant Professor of Information Science, is one of 23 grant recipients of the CU-Boulder Innovative Seed Program, which supports CU faculty members engaged in new and exciting areas of research and creative work. Szafir received $50,000 towards her Fieldview project听which aims to bridge the gap between collecting data and analyzing it in the field using mobile devices.鈥淔ieldView will allow researchers to collect data in the field using mobile phones and use the same device to analyze the resulting datasets in detail through augmented reality,鈥 she says.
Szafir hopes the project will make field research quicker, easier and more efficient.听鈥淭his will enable researchers to engage in exploratory data analysis while in the field and also stream field contexts to remote researchers for collaborative sensemaking across teams of researchers.鈥
