Joanne Marras Tate ("Jo") (she/her) is a doctoral candidate within the Community and Social Interaction area in the Department of Communication. Her background is in Marine Biology and Psychobiology. Jo received an MSc in Media and Communication presenting a thesis in Environmental Communication. Jo is a multimedia scholar, currently investigating several emerging听听communication practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is interested in learning more about the ways we relate with more-than-humans in a variety of communities and through different understandings.听听

Jo is a naturalist and conservationist, serving on the executive board of听听and as a member of the Microplastic Working Group with the organization听. Jo is also a facilitator for Fiske Planetarium's听Science Under the Dome, where she provides science communication support for presenters and facilitates public听talks.听
In 2019, Jo was a听NEST听fellow and alongside听colleagues from Art and Art History and EBIO, created a 精品SM在线影片 Species Field Guide that you can download听HERE. The field guide highlights some of the species we share our beautiful 精品SM在线影片 campus with!听
