Madelyn Zander is a PhD student in the Department of Information Science,听working with Professor Leysia Palen and Alison Cool. Madelyn takes a Science and Technology Studies (STS) approach to the study of digital infrastructure. Her dissertation work focuses on the rapidly expanding data center infrastructure in northern Virginia. Specifically, she is attending to the social, political, economic听and environmental impacts of data center infrastructure in Prince William County. Madelyn hopes her research will support the engineering and deployment of a more sustainable, and environmentally and socially just data center infrastructure.听
Madelyn graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA in anthropology and sociology. In her free time, she loves to ski, mountain bike, trail run with her dog听and spend time with her family.
