The Engineering Graduation Ceremony celebrates the imminent graduation of College of Engineering and Applied Science bachelor's students, master's students, doctoral students and Computer Science bachelor of arts students. Graduates will be recognized individually by name and take the traditional walk across the stage to receive their diploma cover.

Guests must departÌýMacky AuditoriumÌýby noon so that the next graduationÌýceremony is able to adequately prepare for their 1 p.m. doors time.

RSVP/Tickets

Tickets may be required depending on the response rate. We will contact you using the email address provided with your RSVP if we determine that ticketing is necessary.

Arrival Time

Students: Report to the Eaton Humanities basement level between 9:15-9:30 a.m. Staff will be on hand to check you in and line you up by academic degree program for the processional to Macky Auditorium. Do not leave any personal items in the Eaton Humanities building.

Guests: Family and friends should use the center south (main) entrance of Macky Auditorium. Doors to Macky Auditorium open at 9 a.m.

Dress

Degree candidates are encouraged to wear a cap and gown.ÌýInformation about purchasingÌýacademic regalia may be found at theÌý.

Undergraduates wearing regalia should have their tassel on the right; all graduate students should wear their tassel on the left.

PhD candidates mustÌýbe in academic regalia; pleaseÌýcarryÌýyour hood, do not wear it.

Processional

The processional will begin with the PhD candidates, followed by all master's and bachelor's candidates. Upon arrival in Macky, please remain standing until the platform party is on stage.

  • PhD candidatesÌýwill be hooded by their faculty advisors. Your advisor should line up in front of you for the procession and should sit next to you. When you get up to walk to the stage, carry your hood on your right arm, and each faculty advisor should walk in front of the candidate toward the stage. At the top of the stage steps, hand your card to the reader and then stand in front of your advisor on the stage as your face the audience. As your name is read, your advisor will hood you. (If your faculty advisor is unable to attend, the associate dean already on stage will hood you.)
  • Master's and bachelor's candidatesÌýwill be directed by an usher to form a line to the stage. When you reach the stage stairs, follow the directions of the usher and the staff at the stage; proceed up the steps and hand your card to the reader. Cross the stage as your name is read and then return to your seat as directed by the ushers.

This Graduation Ceremony will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. At the conclusion of the event, please remain in your seat until all the graduates have been recognized and the platform party has exited the stage.
