About Us
Interested in joining CHEMunity?
Everyone is invited to attend every meeting, and those who sign in at meetings will have their attendance recorded. Students who attend 1/4 of all meetings are considered members who can vote on whether or not someone is added to the leadership board.
We have automatic elections to the leadership board once a year, but we're happy to hold elections more frequently for those who'd like to get involved or when we need to replace a spot on the board if someone graduates or needs to take some time away from a leadership position.
Those on the leadership board meet before every semester to divy up jobs, such as sending out meeting reminders, taking notes during meetings, hosting coffee hours, and updating the website.
Regardless of whether or not you regularly attend meetings or have ever attended a meeting, anyone is welcome to bring concerns or questions to CHEMunity meetings (in person or using the "Contact Us" form).
What is CHEMunity?
CHEMunity is a graduate student organization that seeks to foster community in the chemistry department.
Who is CHEMunity?
CHEMunity is a made up of a group of gradate students across the chemistry divisions who work with CHEMunity鈥檚 faculty advisor, Oana Luca.
When is CHEMunity?
Every other week! Usually late afternoon on a Wednesday or Thursday! Keep an eye on your email and make sure you鈥檙e subscribed to the currentchemgraduate email list! On the off weeks, we also host zoom coffee hours, where you can bring concerns, questions, beverages, or just swing by to talk and hang out for a bit.
How is CHEMunity?
Listen, we know that one was really a stretch. But the only way we get things done is with the help and participation of other grad students. We鈥檙e not asking that you come to a weekly meeting or commit to hosting a monthly zoom session, but we hope you鈥檒l (sometimes) be able to make it to our meetings! If meetings aren鈥檛 for you or don鈥檛 work for your schedule, no worries! You can use the "Contact Us" page to submit a question, concern, or idea to CHEMunity. You're welcome to include your name or contact info (but they aren't required) and feel free to request a direct response, too. We check submissions every other week before each meeting, and we'll start of meetings by addressing any submissions.
