CU-Boulder Professors Make Presentations To Colorado Science Teachers On Sept. 29

Several University of Colorado at Boulder professors and science educators will speak to teachers on topics ranging from "Smart Goo" to "The Physics of Basketball" at the Colorado Science Convention on Sept. 29. About 1,000 science teachers from throughout the state are expected to attend the daylong event at the Denver Merchandize Mart, 451 E. 58th Ave.

The Endangerment Of Native American Languages

The Center of the American West at the University of Colorado at Boulder will present a panel discussion titled "At a Loss for Words: The Endangerment of Native American Languages," Tuesday, Oct. 3rd, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Forum Room at the University Memorial Center. The panel will discuss concerns linguists have with the loss of language diversity and the implications it will have for individual cultures and all of humanity. Native American languages, which are among the most endangered in the world, will be the main focus of the panel.

Lecture/Performance "Reliving El Corrido"

CU Latino Advocacy and the United Mexican American Students (UMAS) at the University of Colorado at Boulder are sponsoring "Reliving El Corrido," with singer and Mexican American musicologist Dr. Jesus "Chuy" Negrete on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. in room 150 of the Humanities Building on campus.

CU-Boulder Political Science Professor Selected 2000-01 Carnegie Scholar

Political science Professor Susan Clarke of the University of Colorado at Boulder and 39 other outstanding faculty members from across the nation have been selected as the 2000-2001 class of Carnegie scholars. Clarke and her colleagues were selected by the Pew National Fellowship Program for Carnegie Scholars in recognition and support of their efforts to advance teaching and learning of their disciplines in the natural sciences, mathematics, social sciences and the arts.

"Searching For Distant Worlds" At Fiske

CU Wizards "Fun With Molecules" Starts 2000-2001 Season Sept. 30

Chemistry and biochemistry Professor David Nesbitt will kick off the 2000-2001 University of Colorado at Boulder CU Wizards season with plenty of booms and fizzles as he presents "Fun with Molecules," Saturday, Sept. 30, at 9:30 a.m. in the Cristol Chemistry and Biochemistry Building, room 140. Professor Nesbitt聮s show will shed light on the wonders of chemical reactions with several experiments, like turning a pickle into a light bulb and generating light without heat 聳 just like fireflies.

Boulder Couple Donates Funds To Shakespeare Festival At CU-Boulder

CU-Boulder Study Abroad Fair To Be On Tuesday, Sept. 26

The University of Colorado at Boulder will hold its annual Study Abroad Peer Advising Fair Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the University Memorial Center's Glenn Miller Ballroom from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Students will be able to gather general information about CU-Boulder's 140 study abroad programs including program costs, scholarship opportunities and financial aid. Students also can explore new program options in Cuba, the Southern Cone (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay), Fiji, London, Berlin, Norway, Russia, Jordan and Turkey.

Final Harvest To Complete A Successful Gardening Season
