The Women and Gender Studies Student Leadership Practicum, also known as Gender Justice League, is听designed to give students the听opportunity to put what they learn about social justice into practice. Students are nominated by faculty or can apply to participate. Students are selected based on academic performance, commitment to social justice, and leadership skills. Students meet weekly as a group with the faculty advisor and receive one credit hour per semester for their involvement in collaborating听across three main areas.听GJL plans听academic events听such as speakers, 鈥淐onversations at the Cottage,鈥澨齝oordinates听philanthropic and activist events听on a variety of issues, including Denim Days, a week of听activism in the spring aimed at combating gender-based violence, and finally听members publish their own听newsletter, with student articles focusing on different feminist issues. With these publications, GJL hopes to spread a feminist voice and bring awareness to contemporary social justice issues on campus, in the community, and beyond. Apply next semester to participate in this听collaborartive learning environment!
